Abstract
We discuss the use of mathematical models and optimization methods for computer-aided design of mechanical transmission systems. The problem of decision making in transmission design is considered here as a multi-criteria optimization problem. To solve it, we use the multilevel decomposition schemes in combination with methods of quadratic, dynamic and of nonlinear programming methods.
