Abstract

The Floquet theorem is combined with the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method to obtain sufficiently accurate results for the scattering parameters of a metal strip grating. This accuracy can be achieved by using a suitable absorbing boundary condition. The algorithm described allows any periodically repeated complex irregular shape to be studied.
