Abstract

AbstractIn the article, sustainable development issues and environmental and economic problems in the context of global problems have been researched. The essence and effectiveness of the sustainable development processes that began in the 1960s have been elucidated. The strategic importance of the environmental factor in strengthening sustainable development at the global level has been substantiated. The article highlights the growing urgency of these problems, especially in recent years due to climate change. The importance of defining optimal solutions for environmental problems and more effective coordination at the international level has been emphasized. The issues of special importance of the environmental factor in the oil sector and oil companies have been researched. The article also contains the author's approach to the problems of improving and developing the ecological and economic system in the oil industry enterprises in accordance with the requirements of modern times. The need for conceptual approaches and effective mechanisms for environmental protection and solution of environmental problems in the oil industry of Azerbaijan has been stated. The country's investment in environmental protection and more efficient use of natural resources has been researched. Indicators of air pollutants and hazardous industrial waste have been analyzed. The losses in the Azerbaijani crude oil balance have been noted. The amount of pollutants released into the atmosphere in the structural units of SOCAR has been analyzed.
