Abstract
Tenaga Nasional Generating Authority of Malaysia has decided to upgrade the existing steam turbo-generating plant to a more efficient combined cycle plant. Parsons Turbine Generators Ltd. (PTGL) were to supply one steam turbine and the necessary control equipment for a combined cycle system. The control of combined cycle plant was known to be a difficult task, involving the efficient sharing of load between the gas and the steam turbines, the limiting of ramping rates, and the control of boiler steam pressures. Simulink package was used to model the associated plant and to aid the design of a control strategy for the combined cycle plant.
