Abstract

In this work we have modelled and simulated the transport of solid particles in a flowing fluid. The approach consists of using the finite volume method for the fluid and a contact handling house code for solid particles. A model for perfectly inelastic collisions is proposed. To take into account the solid part, we have integrated, in the contact management code, the equations of the dynamics of the solid by considering all the forces acting on the particle flowing in a fluid. However, for the numerical resolution of the Navier-Stokes equations, we used the Fluent commercial code which is based on the Finite Volume Method. The path taken is to separate the numerical resolution of the equations governing the fluid flow from those of the solid by the Splitting procedure. Through the results obtained, for the case of solid particle injection, we can say that the approach adopted for this type of flow gives an overall idea of the behaviour of solid particles in a fluid flow.
