Abstract
The paper introduces the state model of a novel multistage, multiple effect VTE-desalination plant. This desalination plant can have up to 50 stages, each stage having three physical inlets and four physical outlets. The multiple effect VTE-stage can be represented by eight variables related by the heat-and product balance equation for circulating steam, desalinate product and brine. The scope of the paper is to develop the complete dynamic and steady state model, of a ten stage process with the corresponding simulation results. Beside aquiring a stage modelling that leads to a minimum number of states to describe the desalination process adequatly, the paper explores model reduction tion of the multistage process by applying certain design and production policy.
