Abstract

The generation of ultra wide-band (UWB) pulse-compression (PC) signals in modern radar systems is a pivotal technology for microwave imaging, buried targets detection and target identification. The implementation scheme of the UWB PC signal generator, which combines digital baseband generation and bandwidth expansion via frequency multiplication, is introduced firstly in this paper. Then the error models are established from three aspects such as baseband signal generator, I/Q quadrature modulator and frequency multiplying circuit. And a digital predistortion method for eliminating the effect of error signals is derived and proposed. Finally the measured results are given and show that the correction technique can improve the performance of UWB radars considerably.
