Abstract

A cage-type, current-shunt construction design was adopted in this article as prospectively having a wide bandwidth. A lumped equivalent circuit model for current shunts assembled according to this design is described here. The ac–dc transfer differences of shunts with the nominal currents from 0.5 to 20 A are computed using standard two-port network theory. Cage-type current shunts were constructed and tested to validate the model. The measured ac–dc current transfer differences agree with the predicted values within the standard uncertainties in the whole frequency range of interest (10 Hz–100 kHz).
