Abstract

Abstract Refinements to current modeling techniques are presented and validated with available experimental data for a range of throat gas velocities, liquid‐to‐gas ratios and particle diameters and are found to be consistent with experimental observations. In addition, the validated model is used to study the effects of gas velocity and liquid‐to‐gas ratio on droplet motion and the effects of converging angle, throat length and diverging angle on total performance. Optimum values of converging angle, throat length and diverging angle are discussed.
