Abstract

A battery pack consists of batteries installed in parallel and/or series. Many factors affect the performance of a battery pack, either external or internal factors such as temperature, discharge/charge current, individual cell voltage and state of charge (SoC), also the state of health (SoH). In this paper, we try to show the effect of temperature on series and parallel cell configuration inside a battery pack. The cell characteristics are based on the Panasonic NCR18650GA. Results have shown that the temperature difference affects the individual SoC of the series-connected cells. In the model, it could reach SoC difference of up to 6.9%. However, the parallel-connected cells have no SoC difference.
