Abstract

Traveler's behavior is complex during emergency evacuation. It may rely on both the availability of traffic information and personal perception on hazard. Traveler's route choice behavior is analyzed with consideration of different levels of traffic information. By evaluating the deficiencies of classic logit model, the link weight is introduced to model evacuation route choice behavior considering traffic information. The fuzzy logic theory is adopted to compute the link weight using traffic information level and distance from the link to traveler as fuzzy inputs. In addition, the impacts of information update cycle and evacuation instructions on evacuation efficiency are evaluated by traffic simulation. Practical insights are concluded in the end of this paper.
