Abstract
We consider formation of asymmetric ring current loops, related with typical spatio-temporal variations of plasmapause at different phases of magnetic storm. The consideration is based on the mechanism of the ring current dissipation connected with gyroresonance interaction of the ring current particles with Alfven waves. Asymmetric component of the ring current arises due to fast dissipation of energetic ion belt at plasmaspheric bulges and detached plasma regions, formed in the equatorial plane on the drift path of energetic ions. We compare the theoretical results with typical patterns of the evolution of asymmetric DR variation, obtained from the data recorded at low-latitude magnetic stations.
