Abstract

We have developed a 3D numerical code supplied with a user-friendly interface for modeling active diode-laser structures, taking into account light diffraction and carrier diffusion. Laser characteristics are found as functions of the above-threshold drive. Besides, 3-5 higher order optical modes on a 'frozen background' are computed by Arnoldi algorithm. The software allows for calculating the critical drive for single-mode operation set by mode competition effect. Implementation of the software for analyzing single-mode operation stability for the antiresonant reflecting optical waveguide diode lasers is presented.
