Abstract

The paper presents a simple approach for mathematical modeling and simulation of vehicular traffic at the intersection of roads. The design of a simulator to simulate vehicular traffic at the intersection of roads is proposed for the study of traffic management algorithms in a city. The proposed simulator is developed using object-oriented JAVA programming language. The simulator provides the visual and graphical interpretation of different traffic parameters in the simulation environment. A simple mathematical model of vehicular traffic at the intersection of roads is proposed. This mathematical model is then programmed as different simulation objects using the principles of Object-Oriented Programming (OOPs). The proposed simulator is then used to simulate different traffic scenarios at the intersection of roads in a city. The Paper presents a brief discussion on step by step approach taken in the process.
