Abstract

In this paper, a model of the opening and closing processes of attitude control motor (ACM) with dual pintle thrusters is presented. The critical part of the model of ACM could be seen as a valve which is actually analyzed. Electromagnetic subsystem, pintle moving subsystem, throttle subsystem, chamber pressure filling subsystem and thrust subsystem are investigated detailed, their interactions considered too. Model validation is performed by comparing the simulated and measured thrust curves, which shows different characteristics with single pintle motor due to the coupling effect of two thrusters. The ACM response is split into the starting delay, pintle motion and thrust delay time. Some key controlling and structural factors concerning with the three stage time are discussed in detail, and the effects illustrate opposite trends between opening and closing process. Consequently, the parameters should be designed properly to reduce total response time.
