Abstract
This paper investigates a mathematical model of a boost converter based on three-state switching cell and voltage multipliers cells (mc). The proposed analysis is based on the tool ¿PWM-switch modeling of DC-DC converters¿. Two situations are analyzed: operation with one voltage multiplier cell (mc=1) and operation considering the number of voltage multiplier cells greater than 1 (mc>1). The proposed method was validated through simulations and it was verified its effectiveness. In addition, it is also analyzed in this work the conventional average current mode control applied to the configuration with two voltage multiplier cells (mc=2). The performance of the converter and the effectiveness of the proposed controller are demonstrated by simulations and experimental results for a 1 kW laboratory prototype.
