Abstract

The periodic variations in the flux of the object Geminga in the ..gamma.. and x-ray ranges are interpreted as the orbital revolution of a degenerate dwarf with M = 0.6M /sub ./ around a black hole with total mass of the system M = 5M /sub ./ . It is assumed that the dwarf fills its Roche lobe, its orbital period is equal to the observed 1 min, and gravitational radiation together with mass transfer explain the increase in the period. It is assumed that other unidentified galactic ..gamma.. point sources belong to the same class of object. In the model proposed, the energy flux of the gravitational waves from Geminga at the Earth is 5.10/sup -3/ erg.cm/sup -2/.sec/sup -1/ for the distance 100 pc; this is at the limit of modern observational possibilities.
