Abstract

The development of Electrical Vehicle (EV) and environment issue haves encouraged the adoption of vehicle. With more increment of EV usage, more charging station should be set up to fulfil the demand. At this stage, the Malaysia government and multiple private institution have been slowly building EV charging networks throughout the country, but the progress has been slow as the targeted number of charging stations built in 2020 were yet to be achieved. This means that the number of EV charging stations throughout the country is very limited. Moreover, new owners of EV might not be able to get valuable information regarding the locations and types of public chargers without a presence of a dedicated platform for browsing. The rigid method of activating majority of the public chargers using registered membership card is making an unpleasant user experience of public EV charging in Malaysia as well. With the introduction of a dedicated mobile application for EV charging stations, it opens many possibilities in improving the user experience by including important features for EV drivers to navigate to a compatible charger nearby, reducing the reliance of physical membership card for activation by enabling remote activation through the mobile application, as well as improving waiting time for the process of activating public charger. A comprehensive mobile platform is purposed for chargEV, the largest EV charging network solution provider, with the purpose of filling in the possible gaps in the EV charging experience of Malaysia.
