Abstract
Acute appendicitis is the most common cause for acute abdominal surgery in clinics. Appendectomy is the standard strategy for acute appendicitis over one century. Some postoperative complications are inevitable, such as incision infection, abdominal infection and bowel obstruction. Appendix has been recognized as the important part of immune system. Precise diagnosis and treatment of acute appendicitis need clinical advances. Endoscopic retrograde appendicitis therapy (ERAT) was developed to diagnose and treat acute appendicitis. ERAT procedure was similar to endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for acute suppurative cholangitis. This study intended to share our clinical findings and therapeutic experience during its application.
