Abstract

A 51-year-old man presented with left testicular pain and swelling following trauma. An ultrasound examination demonstrated an incidental finding of two discrete solid lesions at the upper pole of the left testicle. The patient underwent a left orchidectomy and pathologic examination of the specimen revealed two uniloculated benign cysts with a relatively thick fibrous capsule, lined by simple and pseudostratified epithelium, ranging from flat to cuboidal and columnar, with and without cilia. No papillary projections were detected. The lining epithelium was positive for immunohistochemical staining with CA125, ER and PAX8. There was inhibin positive stroma in the subepithelial zone. The lesion was diagnosed as a Müllerian-type serous cystadenoma of the testis. Tumours of ovarian-epithelial type of the testis are very rare entities.1,2,3 The origin of these tumours and their distinction from clinically aggressive neoplasms are discussed.
