Abstract
Abstract The interaction of the metal ions Pd(II), Rh(III) and Pt(IV) with succinimide as primary, and 1, 10-phenanthroline or 2, 2′-bipy-rldine as secondary, ligands is described. The complexes were prepared and characterised by elemental analysis, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements and infrared and electronic spectroscopic studies. The composition of the complexes of Pd(II), Rh(III) and Pt(IV) are [M(II)S2], [M′(III)S3(H2O)L] and [M″(IV)S4], respectively, where M - Pd(II); M′ Rh(III) and M″ Pt(IV); S -deprotonated succinimide and L = 1, 10-phenanthroline or 2, 2′-bipyri-dine. The complexes of Pd(II) have square planar structures and the rest are octahedral.
