Abstract
The effect of a first-order exothermic chemical reaction on the mixed flow in a vertical channel filled with a porous medium has been studied using the local thermal non-equilibrium model. A mathematical model including the exponen-tial term for heat generation in the fluid phase and interphase heat transfer terms in both the fluid and solid phases was considered. The above dimensionless model has been solved numerically using the Matlab routine bvp4c for the energy equations together with an in-house developed code for the momentum equation. The existence of dual solutions is reported for certain values of the Frank-Kamenetskii number. The obtained profiles of temperature and velocity have been plotted. In addition, the ranges of existence of the dual solutions are reported.
