Abstract
The Baguio Mining District (Central Cordillera of Luzon Island) has evolved, from Eocene to Recent time, from a marginal basin to an island arc setting, related firstly to a westward subduction and after a subduction polarity reversal by the Early Miocene to an eastward subduction. Late Miocene to Quaternary magmatism and tectonics have allowed the deposition of gold and copper. This scenario is consistent with available geological field and isotopic K–Ar ages.
