Abstract

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is one of procedure that can diagnose heart abnormalities by reading its electrical activity. The study of developing IoT-based ECG monitoring system on mobile application has grown in recent years. However, it still has limits as the system requires an excellent internet connection to diagnose the heart condition based on the electrocardiogram signal that shown in the screen. Moreover, the system uses a Raspberry Pi that has a complex system with a relatively more expensive price. Accordingly, this research proposes a minimum system of electrocardiogram monitoring based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The system allows user to monitor without internet in a less than 100 meters of distance using a bluetooth media. This electrocardiogram minimum system using Atmega328P as the IC on microcontroller and AD8232 as the ECG reader. During monitoring process, user can connect to the doctor's smartphone that located within more than 100 meters of distance using the internet connection. When the patient still using the system, the signal is automatically stored on the patient's smartphone so that the signal data can be accessed again and sent anytime to the doctor. The total cost needed for this minimum system of the electrocardiogram monitoring is only 28.41% of the cost of the previously built system. In conclusion, the purpose of this research which is to build an IoT device that can be used to monitor electrocardiogram signals by doctors from a distance, is accomplished.
