Abstract
Donax is an edible and very popular seafood along the Mediterranean coast of Egypt. A lot of pockets composed of empty Donax shells are on the shoreline among many areas along the coast. Some major (Ba, Ca), minor (Mg and Sr) and trace (Al, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Sb and Zn) elements were determined in the Donax shells as a carbonate source. In addition, Cd, Pb, Cu and Zn were measured in both the soft tissue and the sediment as well.
