Abstract
The design and development of integrated lens antenna (ILA) with reconfigurable radiation patterns is discussed. The proposed antenna array covers a wide scan angle of 360° in azimuth plane (θ = 90°) with impedance bandwidth of 5 GHz (57.5–62.5 GHz) and having gain higher than 16 dB and 3 dB crossover between the neighboring feeds. The proposed antenna structure consists of 15-element antenna array. Each array element consists of microstrip patch antenna (MPA) on Rogers RT/duroid 5880 substrate and a homogenous extended hemispherical dielectric lens (Teflon) to enhance MPA gain. A 5-element array prototype for test and measurements is fabricated, and simulation and measured results are presented and found to be in good agreement.
