Abstract

L'A. donne une nouvelle interpretation de la periode de la Mihna (inquisition) (IXe siecle). On a longtemps pense, a la lecture de textes sunnites ou hanbalistes, que cette inquisition avait ete declenchee par un seul homme, le calife al-Ma'mūn. Se basant sur d'autres documents, l'A. montre que cette inquisition a ete vecue par le mouvement rationaliste des partisans du kalâm comme une reaction d'auto-defense face a la tendance du parti proto-sunnite a exclure toute autre opinion de l'ecriture de la loi.
