Abstract

The Migdal scheme is extended to investigate the phase structures of theZ(N) lattice gauge theory at finite temperature. The critical couplingβ c as the function of temperatureT (orN t) for the (2+1)- and (3+1)-dimensionalZ(2) andZ(3) lattice gauge theories are obtained and the results are compared with the datum of the mean-field technique and the Monte Carlo simulation.
