Abstract

Middle Jurassic ammonoids from Gebel Maghara (Sinai, Egypt), kept in the collection of the Geological Survey of Israel, ranging from the Dorsetensia beds (Middle Bajocian) up to the Micromphalites beds (Middle Bathonian) are studied. Fifty- nine species included in 30 genera are discussed, of them 44 species and 12 genera which have not been reported from Gebel Maghara by previous authors, and 5 New species. Douvilleia n. gen. is proposed for irregularly coiled Stephanoceratids that are similar externally to Normannites or Cadomites. Pseudotorrensia n. gen. is proposed for a homoeomorph of torrensia Sturani (1971). The sequence of Middle Jurassic ammonites at Gebel Maghara is compared with the sequence in the corresponding section at Jebel Tuwaiq (Central Arabia).
