Abstract
ABSTRACT Steam gasification of different semi-coke of biomass (fungus chaff) and coal (lignite) has been carried out in a fixed-bed reactor in a microwave. All the semi-coke derived from different pyrolytic power and biomass/coal ratio in order to evaluate the effect of microwave and the biomass in co-gasification. The effect of the main operating parameters, such as microwave power, steam flow, and reaction time, has been analyzed to observe the conditions allowing higher gasification efficiency. The results showed that biomass plays a positive role in co-gasification because of its alkali and alkaline earth metals. The high-temperature, suitable steam flow and adequate reaction time can lead to more efficient gasification process. The gasification of semi-coke as the limited step has been solved mainly because the microwave, compared with the conventional pyrolytic method, and has some influence on the specific area, active sites, and microcosmic structure of semi-coke. Thus, the co-gasification can be largely improved with the help of a microwave.
