Abstract

The rotational spectrum of the oxirane–krypton van der Waals complex has been investigated between 5 and 20 GHz by microwave Fourier transform spectroscopy. The observation of Kr and C isotopomers has allowed the unambiguous determination of the geometrical structure of the complex. Two structural parameters were derived from the ground state rotational constants. The distance between the centre-of-mass (CM) of the oxirane molecule and the krypton atom and the angle (O–CM–Kr) were found to be 3.702 Å and 71.8°, respectively.
