Abstract

The microwave spectra of fluorocyanobutadiyne, FC 5N, in the ground, v 11 (skeletal bending) and 2 v 11 states were observed with a source-modulated spectrometer. The FC 5N molecule was generated in a free space absorption cell by a dc glow discharge in pentafluorobenzonitrile, C 6F 5CN. The rotational and centrifugal distortion constants for the ground state were determined to be 755.398325(41) MHz and 8.3458(11) Hz, respectively. The l-type doubling constant for the v 11 state, 0.508887(48) MHz, was consistent with the value calculated from the harmonic force field.
