Abstract

The microwave rotational spectra of several isotopic species of a weakly-bound dimer (CO,HCl) have been measured. For each isotopic species, values of the rotational, centrifugal distortion, and chlorine nuclear quadrupole coupling constants were obtained. These constants are consistent with a linear equilibrium geometry with the atom order OC–HCl, thus establishing the presence of a hydrogen bond to the carbon atom of the CO molecule.. The potential binding of the HCl and CO molecules is also discussed.
