Abstract
A series of styryl dyes: 2‐substituted styryl benzimidazole and α‐methyl‐2‐substituted styryl benzimidazole were synthesized under solvent‐free microwave irradiation by the condensation of 2‐methylbenzimidazole or 2‐ethylbenzimidazole with aromatic aldehydes in the presence of Ac2O.
