Abstract

In-situ measurements of the copper deposition rate and simultaneous determination of the total current enables us to determine the rates of the partial processes copper deposition and formaldehyde oxidation. By changing the bath composition at a constant potential we can show, that formaldehyde oxidation occurs with appreciable rates only at surfaces with a specific microstructure. The latter is characterized by unusual high values of the double layer capacitance, which is determined simultaneously by time resolved impedance spectroscopy.
