Abstract
(Tb0.7Lu0.3)2O3 transparent ceramics were prepared by hydrogen pre-sintering and hot isostatic pressing treatment. ZrO2 was added as sintering aid to restrain the abnormal grain growth. The microstructure evolution and linear shrinkage changes of the (Tb0.7Lu0.3)2O3 transparent ceramics in the range of 1400℃~1700℃ were investigated. It can be seen from the results that the linear shrinkage of ceramics increased nonlinearly with the increase of the sintering temperature. In the range of 1550℃~1600℃, the (Tb0.7Lu0.3)2O3 ceramics had a higher shrinkage rate. And the shrinkage rate slowed down when the temperature exceeded 1600℃. The samples prepared by 1550℃ hydrogen pre-sintering combined with 1550℃ hot isostatic pressing sintering showed good optical property. The average grain size was about 1.69μm and the highest transmittance reached 74.81% @1064 nm.
