Abstract

In order to improve the wear resistance of AlCoCrFeNi2.1 high entropy alloy, AlCoCrFeNi2.1 layers with 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% weight addition of TiC were prepared by micro-plasma cladding technique. The results showed that micro-plasma cladding can effectively reduce decomposition of TiC particle and the lowest decomposition rate was 0.8%. Meanwhile, the hardness and wear resistance of the cladding layers were greatly enhanced with the addition of TiC. When added 15 wt% TiC, the hardness and wear resistance of the cladding layers were the most excellent. The main wear mechanisms of enhanced layers were adhesive wear, abrasive wear and oxidation wear.
