Abstract

(1-x)Bi(Sc 0.75 Zn 0.125 Ti 0.125 )O 3 −xPbTiO 3 (BSZPTx, x = 0.50–0.60) piezoelectric ceramics were prepared by using conventional mixed oxide ceramic processing. A rhombohedral/tetragonal morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) of BSZPTx was observed in the vicinity of x = 0.56. For the composition near MPB, BSZPTx, ceramics reveals the maximum planar electromechanical coupling factor kp and piezoelectric constant d 33 of 0.47 and 320 pC/N, respectively. The temperature dependence of dielectric constant of BSZPTx ceramics reveals the Curie temperature TC of BSZPTx increases with increasing of PbTiO 3 content, and reaches up to 445°C for x = 0.60. BSZPTx ceramics may be used for making high temperature piezoelectric acceleration sensors.
