Abstract

This paper details the synthesis of Al7475 alloy with 8% wt. of nano B4C particulate metal matrix composites using the liquid metallurgy technique. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) of the synthesized composites demonstrates the uniform dispersion of the reinforced nano B4C particles throughout the matrix. EDS spectrums confirmed the various elements present in Al7475-B4C composites. Hardness, tensile and compression tests were carried out to find out the impact of nano B4C on various mechanical properties of the composites. Synthesized composites had a greater hardness, tensile and compression strength with the incorporation of B4C particles. Tensile failure analysis was studied using SEM images of fractured surfaces.
