Abstract

The present study was devoted to the investigation of powder metallurgy produced 35Fe-30Cr-20Ni-10Mo-5 W high entropy alloy. Microstructural characterization was performed by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The phase composition of all specimens consisted of σ-, FCC, and BCC phases. EDS mapping of the samples showed that σ-phase contains Cr, Mo and W, whilst FCC – primarily Fe and Cr. Cr-rich particles and chromium oxides were detected in all specimens. EBSD analysis demonstrated that the most promising microstructure was obtained after 2.5 h of mechanical alloying.
