Abstract

Microsomes from embryonic and adult chick liver have been analyzed by homologous antisera. The deoxycholate-soluble fraction of embryonic microsomes contains a group of antigens typical to this fraction, but present only as a trace in the adult-homologous fraction. These antigens are organ-specific, at least with respect to the heart, the lung, the intestine and the mesonephros. In the course of development embryonic ribosomes progressively acquire adult-type ribosomal antigens. Some possibilities concerning the interpretation of the results are discussed.
