Abstract

The amplitudes for phonon absorption and scattering by quasiparticles in dilute solutions of He 3 in superfluid He 4 are derived, at T = 0, from the exact microscopic theory. The results justify those obtained from the semi-phenomenological theory of quantum hydrodynamics. In addition, the exact quasiparticle scattering amplitude is shown to be equal to the zero-momentum-transfer limit of the effective potential of Bardeen, Baym, and Pines.
