Abstract

Laser scanning confocal microscopy is a powerful tool that enalbles the investigation of phenomena occurring at the single molecular level. In this work we present the latest results on the observation of a pH dependent switch at the single molecular level. The reversible switching behaviour of Rhodamine B molecules embedded in the core of metallodendrimers was studied both in solution and on glass surfaces. Moreover Rhodamine B switching molecules were covalently linked to a glass surface and their switching behavior was observed at the single molecular level by locally changing the chemical environment using µ-contact printing.
