Abstract

Since Watts and Strogatz first proposed the Small-world model in 1998, Large-scale network structures and properties have become a research hotspot. Micro-blogs like Twitter, Taotao, Digu are very popular large-scale communication social networks nowadays. This paper takes "Digu" network as an example, presents a study and analysis of the structures and attributes of micro-blog social networks. Our results confirm the power-law, small-world properties of online social networks. In addition, we observe that a small peak appeared at 22 out-degrees, which indicates that people usually keep up with about 22 friends. At the same time, we find that there are "Star nodes" in micro-blog network who share less but getting concerned a lot. Finally we discuss the "Star effect" caused by star nodes.
