Abstract
This study is to assess the microbial quality of 360 of non-sterile pharmaceutical drops to note the microbial contamination. Quantitavely, there was no viable bacterial growth in (79.17%) of the tested samples. The samples were free from potentially bacterial pathogens. While, (87.22 %) were free from fungi. Qualitativley, showed that Staphylococcus epidermidis, Bacillus subtilis, and Micrococcus species at frequencies of (26.05 %), (20.17 %) and (15.97 %). Also, fungal contaminants were Aspergillus niger, Saccharomyces species, Penicillium species and Aspergillus flavus at frequencies of (17.65 %), (10.92 %), (7.56 %), (1.68 %) respectively. Egyptian pharmaceuticals should strictly deal with microbial stringency within the manufacturing, packaging, distribution and storage.
