Abstract
Micromethods are described for the assay of measles and mumps virus and antibody in VERO cells. Measles vaccine titers were found to be up to 1 log 10 higher when the virus was assayed by the plaque technique. In contrast, mumps vaccine plaque titers were lower when compared to the CPE endpoint technique. The hemagglutination inhibition test using Norrby type antigen was found to be the most accurate measure of measles immune status while the serum neutralization test was found to be the most accurate measure of mumps immunity.
