Abstract

Background and Aims: Monocyte infiltration to the arterial wall is one of the initial steps in atherosclerosis development. Atherosclerosis can cause peripheral artery disease (PAD). This is an inflammatory disease in which the blood supply to arteries is disturbed due to narrowing of the blood vessels. Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is a risk factor both for atherosclerosis and PAD. The aim of this study is detection of differentially expressed genes (DEG) in monocytes to reveal common pathological mechanisms involved in these diseases.
