Abstract

We present micro-Raman spectra of different precipitates that are frequently observed oon laser-deposited YBa 2Cu 3O 7−δ films. Especially, we investigate two distinct types of droplets. Spherical droplets with smooth surfaces exhibit strong Raman lines at 510, 560, 595 and 628 cm −1 and weaker ones at 132, 233, 266 and 306 cm −1. All these modes are attributed to Ba 2Cu 3O 5.9. The other type of droplet displays a substructure in the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and is identified as polycrystalline YBa 2Cu 3O 7−δ without preferential orientation. Needles growing at a 45° angle with respect to the a/ b-axes of the film matrix are identified as tenorite (CuO) precipitates.
