Abstract

This article describes an approach of structuring quartz glasses, which leads to the formation of a matrix of regions with different refractive index. This approach makes it possible to change the intensity distribution in the transverse profile of the laser beam. Filamentation of ultrashort pulse laser beams in the volume of a transparent dielectric is used as a tool for structuring the material. In this paper, we consider processes that occur during the interaction of femtosecond laser radiation with a dielectric high-transparency medium, which ensure the formation of the necessary structural changes. The results of processing a sample from quartz glass KU-1 are presented.
