Abstract

The effect of miconazole nitrate, an antifungal drug on the corrosion behavior of aluminium in 1 M hydrochloric acid has been investigated using potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique and weight loss methods. The inhibition efficiency increased with increase in inhibitor concentration, but decreased with increase in temperature. The thermodynamic parameters of corrosion and adsorption processes were evaluated. The adsorption of the inhibitor molecule was found to occur on the metal surface following Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
